There is one and only one living and true God Who eternally exists as God the Father, Jesus - Who is God the Son and God the Holy Spirit Who are coequal. He is an intelligent, spiritual, and personal Being. He is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. God is all powerful, all knowing, and all loving. He is holy and righteous in every way.
Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. He became a man Who was supernaturally conceived and born of the virgin Mary. Jesus perfectly revealed and did the will of God without sin. He fulfilled God’s plan by His substitutionary death on the cross, making provision for the redemption of people from sin. He was raised from the dead and then
ascended into heaven and is now exalted at the right hand of God. He is the one mediator between God and mankind He will return one day in power and glory. Those who have trusted Jesus will be judged for their service to the Lord while those who have not allowed Jesus to take the penalty of their sin will be judged for that sin.
The Holy Spirit is the fully divine Spirit of God. He is present in the world to make people aware of their sin and their need for Jesus. He indwells everyone who trusts that Jesus is God and has died to take the penalty of their sin. He provides the Christian with guidance for understanding of spiritual truth and in living our lives for the Lord.
The Bible was divinely inspired by God and written by men who were moved by the Holy Spirit. It is God’s revelation of Himself to man. All Scripture is totally true and trustworthy. It is God’s Word to us. It is an accurate revelation of God. It is the supreme source of truth and the supreme authority for Christian beliefs and living.
People are the special creation of God, made in His own image. God gave people freewill; and, by our own free choice, man has sinned against God. Our sin has affected every person in that sin separates us from The Holy God. There is no way for us to “be good enough” or to “work our way back to God!” We need God’s forgiveness! The way God made our forgiveness possible is that Jesus, who is holy, took on humanity and allowed Himself to be sacrificed on the cross. In Jesus’ sacrifice, He took the penalty of our sin on Himself. When a person sincerely believes that Jesus is God and that He died to take the penalty of that individual’s sin; that person’s sins are forgiven! God has done the work! By our faith, we trust in what Jesus did for us and in His promise that we will be with Him eternally!
The Biblical model for baptism is that once a person trusts that Jesus died to take the penalty of their sin (becoming a believer in Christ); that person may be baptized. Baptism is important; however, it is not effective for salvation. Instead, once a person is saved, baptism becomes an outward expression of the person’s faith in Jesus in which he or she
identifies with Jesus in His death, burial and resurrection.
